Socrates’ (c. 470-399 BC) method of creating a critical question-answer dialogue to arrive at the truth of the meanings of ethical and other concepts. The “Socratic” method is known exclusively through Socrates’ student, Plato (428/427-348/347 BC), all but one of whose Dialogues feature Socrates as a character/interlocutor.
