Intention/intentionality

The “aboutness” exhibited by our mental states, or their directness toward other states of affairs. The orientation or directness of mental states; what a mental state is about. It is an important feature of intentional contexts that co-extensive terms cannot be substituted salva veritate (“with unharmed truth”) since, for example, I may not believe that I am encountering the same object in different ways.
