Argument from design

An argument that attempts to prove God’s existence from the uniformity, or apparent design, of nature. Since the universe looks as if it has been designed, and that which is designed has a designer, it follows that the universe has a designer, which must be God. The argument involves an analogy between human-made things and the natural world. (See also Teleological argument.)
